As the year draws to an end, Cactus Hotel keeps on winning awards and hearts all over the world. It picked up the main award at Italy's Sondrio Festival and the ALPINE CAMERA AUSTRIA IN GOLD - NATURE & ENVIRONMENT at the Mountainfilm Festival in Graz, Austria. 

The jury in Graz, captivated by Cactus Hotel's narrative, released an excerpt from their statement:

"The director has taken on an extraordinary challenge with his courageous decision to spotlight a plant in a single location and make it the main character of an entire film. With its magnificent animal footage and the film music as an extended commentary level, this production is a lesson in how to create a parable story about 200 years of life from a cactus in the desert. In Western style, the audience is informed about this surprising protagonist and his world in a playful and funny, almost comic-like way. The editing and visual implementation of this nature documentary are masterfully executed."

Altayfilm's second film in competition at Mountainfilm Festival Graz, Bearland, received an honourable mention:  

"Only the professionalism of an experienced nature filmmaker makes it possible to completely immerse oneself in the visual opulence of a world, with its variety of landscapes, the different seasons and at the same time remain close to the creatures being observed. This is the ultimate bear movie."

Finally, what could be a more fitting conclusion to a bustling festival season than receiving a prestigious Buzzie from the World Congress of Science and Factual Producers? We are thrilled to share the exciting news of Cactus Hotel securing the Buzzie Award for Best Writing.
