Wild Faces of Switzerland II
Nature & Wildlife 4 x 52' 2026 4K
‘The Power of Water’ is omnipresent in Switzerland. The wet element shapes Switzerland like hardly any other country in Europe. From the highest mountains to deep beneath the earth, rivers, moors and lakes create species-rich habitats at every altitude. Water shapes landscapes and provides a home for highly specialised animals and plants – in the eternal flow of life.
‘Reaching the Heights’ sees breathtaking stories unfold in Switzerland: ultra-marathon runners climb mountain passes, butterfly enthusiasts track down rare insects, and researchers ring migratory birds as they fly across to France. Above them, only bearded vultures still circle in the sky.
‘Precious Land’ is something Switzerland has only in limited supply: steep rock faces make life difficult for people and nature alike. All the more important, then, to protect the living creatures that have established themselves there against all odds. They find refuge on untouched mountain meadows – and even on Alpine golf courses.
‘Between Fire and Ice’ is devoted to extremes. In Switzerland, heat and cold, fire and ice collide. Glaciers meet hot springs; icy deserts meet rocky steppes. Its inhabitants are as diverse as its landscapes: glacier fleas and scorpions, ibex and bee-eaters.
With lavish imagery, the series invites viewers on a fascinating journey of discovery through Switzerland. Breathtaking aerial shots – filmed at great expense using drones and helicopters – reveal the scenic beauty of the country. Extreme macro shots and super slow motion allow viewers to witness astonishing animal stories up close. ‘Wild Faces of Switzerland’ celebrates the Alpine republic as a unique natural paradise – under the spell of fire, water, earth, and air.
