The program "paired fantastic visuals and video technology with a compelling scientific mystery that is superbly explained," said judge Christine Dell'Amore, a science writer for NationalGeographic.com. The prize is awarded by the American Association for the Advancement in Science (AAAS) – the world's largest general scientific society – and honors journalists who successfully manage to get scientific work across to the broad public.
